It was as if we took few large steps back

Or maybe we simply didn’t care before

About the boys shot because they’re black

They’re on TV and not for a ball game score

People yell and protest, want to get to you

But what they’re afraid of is that this, too

Will last no more than four fucking minutes.

First that, now this, the headlines blared

But the fact that it had not been the first

Was the problem they less declared

Would you take note if roles were reversed?

Uncomfortable truth is in the megaphones

But the world only turns on the microphones

Till it becomes just another thing it forgets.
