perspective

Elizabeth Cotton

head arched back

my hair grows out the earth

I peer at the world

upside down

even the crowd of skyscrapers

look no taller than

the grass

compared to the

rest of the sky

as far as the eye can see

the busyness of it all

what was so very

important and big

it is suddenly insignificant

squint and you won’t see it
